Global Observables at Rhic
نویسنده
چکیده
Main characteristics of the charged particle dNch/dη and transverse energy dET /dη production measured in Heavy Ion collisions at RHIC energies are presented in this article. Transformation of the pseudo-rapidity shape, relation to the incident energy and centrality profile are described in a systematic way. Centrality profile is shown to be closely bound to the number of nucleons participating in the collisions, at the same time an alternative approach to study the centrality behavior is also discussed.

Global Observables at RHIC
The first three measurements from the RHIC program were results on global observables: charged particle multiplicity (Nch), transverse energy (ET ) and elliptic flow (v2). They offer a look at the large-scale features of particle production in high-energy nuclear collisions, with particular insight into entropy production and collective behavior. Results from all of the RHIC experiments are dis...
متن کاملSoft-hadronic Observables for Relativistic Heavy-ion Collisions at Rhic and Lhc * * *
The relativistic hydrodynamics together with the single-freeze-out statistical hadronization model is used to describe the midrapidity hadron production in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions at RHIC and LHC. At the highest RHIC energy our approach gives a quite satisfactory global description of soft hadronic observables including the HBT radii. With the increased initial energy, from RHIC...
متن کاملThe Next Yukawa Phase of QCD at RHIC
QCD predicts the existence of a new partonic Yukawa phase above a critical temperature Tc ∼ 150 MeV. I review some of the key observables which will be used in heavy ion reactions to search for this new phase at RHIC. Systematics of collective observables (Nch, E⊥), flow patterns, meson interferometry, jet quenching, and J/ψ suppression are discussed. This talk is updated with first data from R...
متن کاملHydrodynamic flow at RHIC
We review the apparently hydrodynamic behaviour of low transverse momentum particles (pT ≤ 1.5 GeV/c) produced in central and semicentral (b ≤ 7 fm) heavy ion collisions at RHIC. We investigate the impact parameter dependence of various observables, elaborating on radial and elliptic flow and particle multiplicities. We also discuss possible ambiguities in the initialization of the hydrodynamic...
متن کاملExcitation functions of hadronic observables from SIS to RHIC energies ∗
We calculate excitation functions for various dynamical quantities as well as experimental observables from SIS to RHIC energies within the HSD transport approach which is based on string, quark, diquark (q, ¯ q, qq, ¯ q ¯ q) and hadronic degrees of freedom without including any explicit phase transition to a quark-gluon plasma (QGP). It is argued that the failure of this more 'conventional' ap...
